2020 has been a challenging year for our world. After the Corona pandemic hit so many cities around the globe, humans had to cope with the deadly virus in all kinds of ways. A sudden and progressing threat so ubiquitous that it forced so many changes of global healthcare, daily routines, arts, habits and experiences to an unknown degree for contemporary societies.
Being deeply shocked by seeing the media coverage of hundreds of dead people in body bags on trucks in Italy – prior to the lockdowns in several more countries up to today’s still on-going crisis – I felt the urge to compose ambient music that sonically displays the emotions I felt and still feel during these difficult pandemic times.
I composed seven pieces of ambient and atmospheric music about following topics:
SPREAD
SHOCK
THREAT
ANTIBODY
DEATH
FATIGUE
HOPE
Since the current situation and phases of sadness, frustration and hope for a cure can feel quite overwhelming I created the wordplay COROHNMACHT (Corona meets Ohnmacht as the German word for fainting / passing out).
